Meet Teresa Lin

Who I am.

I grew up in Georgia, graduated from Berry College, and spent 13 years living abroad in Taiwan where I gained the perspective of someone who has seen our democracy from the outside and knows exactly how precious it is.

I came home to Georgia as a mother, an educator, and someone who had spent years overseas working to support elections back in the United States. I know what it feels like to be an outsider looking in on politics. I also know what it feels like to be deeply invested in my community and want the best for it.

I've been a classroom teacher, a Girl Scout leader, a community organizer, and a neighbor.

What I haven't been is a politician. That's exactly the point.

I believe that women, teachers, librarians, and parents—in coordination with physicians and scientists—should be trusted to make decisions for themselves and their families. I believe that making life more affordable makes a stronger, safer community for everyone. And I believe that we are always better when we face our challenges together.

We're in this together.

Why I’m running.

District 49 has been represented by the same Republican incumbent since 2003. That’s over two decades of the same voice, the same priorities, and the same approach.

During that time, our district has changed and continues to change. It is becoming more diverse; we have a wealth of experience that gives our citizens a wide perspective. District 49 is more competitive with residents ready for a representative who reflects who we actually are today, not who we were twenty years ago.

The clearest sign of that disconnect - Have you heard from the incumbent that represents you? Our incumbent is funded mostly by corporate donations, which means he never needs to talk to citizens to find discover what’s on our minds, what’s happening at our kitchen tables, or where our pain lives. At the same time, he consistently votes to lower corporate taxes, leaving one to wonder who is he representing? Recently, he shifted the colors of his website to blue, is he distancing himself from the party he’s supported his entire career? It seems so.

I'm not running to score political points. I'm running because our community deserves a representative who will show up, listen, and do the hard work of actually representing us.

What I believe.

I believe we want the same things: safety, opportunity, and good health. I also know our democracy is strongest when neighbors engage with one another and work together toward solutions. I believe solutions begin with listening. And I believe that one of the most important things a state representative can do right now is help rebuild the connections between neighbors that deep political polarization has frayed.

District 49 voters—Democrats, independents, and pragmatic Republicans alike—deserve leadership focused on problem-solving, not partisanship. That's what I'm offering.

Chip in today & help bring leadership to
House District 49

Our campaign runs on neighbors supporting neighbors. Every dollar goes toward knocking on doors, reaching voters, and making sure the residents of District 49 are heard.
